Inspired by artists like Ed Sheeran and a handful of country artists from Texas, Owen hopes to create music that goes beyond the melody, giving listeners something they can relate to and connect with.
Finding His Sound
Owen describes his music as acoustic with a hint of country, but he’s still discovering what his personal sound looks like. For him, songwriting often begins with an experience, whether it’s something he’s been through himself or something he’s witnessed through someone else.
“I do a lot of storytelling,” Owen explains, hoping his songs will spark that moment of recognition where a listener thinks, I can actually relate to that.
It’s this connection that makes songwriting so meaningful to him. Rather than simply listening to a song, Owen wants people to find a piece of their own experiences within his music.
From First Performances to Unexpected Fan Moments
Like many musicians, Owen’s first performance came with a few nerves. Standing in front of a crowd of unfamiliar faces was daunting, but once he sang that first lyric, everything began to flow.
Since then, he’s experienced some pretty surreal moments, including an unexpected encounter at a frozen yoghurt shop in Mandurah. While visiting Yo-Chi with friends, one of the workers recognised him, shared that she listened to his music and asked for a photo.
With a frozen yoghurt in one hand and a spoon in the other, Owen found himself experiencing one of those moments that reminds you people are genuinely listening to what you create.
Dreams for the Future
Looking ahead, Owen hopes to release a couple of albums over the next five years while continuing to explore what makes him unique as a musician.
His ultimate dream is to headline a sold-out tour, but he’s just as excited by the idea of playing his own gigs and performing for a crowd of a couple of hundred people.
For Owen, becoming an artist isn’t just about fame or money. He admires musicians like Noah Kahan, who seem genuinely happy to perform and share their music with others. That’s the kind of artist he hopes to become: someone who makes music for the joy of it and brings people together through it.
What’s Next for Owen?
With school now behind him, Owen has more time to focus on music. He’s currently working on recording a few of his own songs, while also helping friends record their music.
It’s an exciting time for the emerging artist as he continues developing his sound, writing new stories and figuring out where music might take him next.
We can’t wait to see what Owen does from here!
