The annual Troutfest is returning to the Drakesbrook Weir in Waroona this weekend.
The freshwater fishing event, now in its seventh year, will see hundreds of rainbow and brown trout released into the weir to help boost fish stocks.
Families will have the opportunity to hand-release the trout into their new homes, while free rod hire, fly-casting and tying demonstrations and a kids casting competition will also be on offer.
Since 1999, the Pemberton Freshwater Research Centre has raised and released around 13 million rainbow and brown trout.
"Troutfest has rolled around for another year as Western Australia's signature freshwater fishing event of spring, so be sure to head to Drakesbrook Weir this Saturday to enjoy the family fun," Murray-Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke said.
"I look forward to seeing everyone there, and I'm excited to restock the weir with trout for another year.
"WA has some fantastic freshwater fishing spots - it's a great activity the whole family can enjoy across the Peel region, South West or the Great Southern."
Troutfest is on from 10am-1pm on Saturday, October 21.
The weekend is also a freshwater fishing licence-free weekend, meaning anyone can fish for trout or redfin perch around WA's inland lakes, dams and rivers without needing to buy an annual freshwater licence.
