Baldivis crash survivor on long road to recovery

A mother-of-three faces a long road to recovery after surviving a crash in Baldivis that claimed the lives of three young men.

Ika Lauchlan was driving her Kia Stinger along Sixty Eight Road last Wednesday evening when an Audi A3 collided head-on into her vehicle.

The driver of the Audi, Jaziah Thomas, 24, and brothers Kody Bell, 24, and William Bell, 21, tragically died at the scene.

Their friend Tyler Rowe was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries.

Ms Lauchlan, 44, suffered a broken ankle and several torn ligaments in the crash.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by family members for the nurse, who could be out of work for more than three months.

"I am fundraising for my niece Ika who was travelling home on 68rd Baldivis and was hit by a speeding car," her aunty Kathleen Lauchlan said.

"She is a nurse who won't be able to work for 3 months or more.

"Badly bruised torn ligaments and a broken ankle. She has 3 beautiful children and her hubby is a long distance truck driver.

"He has to loose this week's work so no pay but the bills still come in

"Please help any amount will help."

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
