Building starts at Baldivis District Sporting Complex

Construction of buildings and landscaping has begun at the Baldivis District Sporting Complex (BDSC)

The City of Rockingham’s largest infrastructure project is located on Eighty Road and is aimed at increasing active reserve space in Baldivis for sporting groups.

The contract to complete the construction of the buildings and landscaping on site was awarded by Council to Crothers Construction.

Works featured in this stage of the project include the construction of a district pavilion, change rooms, maintenance shed, car parking and the Baldivis Indoor Recreation Centre.

Landscaping throughout the BDSC site will also be carried out. 

The latest works follow the completion of the site civil works earlier this year in addition to the rollout of approximately eight hectares of turf on all of the ovals and the installation of a complex irrigation system. 

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said the latest milestone represented an exciting step forward for the City’s most significant community infrastructure project.

“Baldivis is experiencing rapid growth and there is a need to meet the growing demand for sport and recreation facilities in the community, he said.

The BDSC will be a sporting hub that can meet this growing need and it is a key part of the City’s Community Infrastructure Plan." 

To execute this project the City received funding from the State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

The City also welcomed the State Government’s $10 million contribution towards the Baldivis Indoor Recreation Centre, through the WA Recovery Plan.
