Designs for new Byford Station released

Designs for the new Byford Station, which will be built as part of the METRONET Byford Rail Extension, have been released for public comment and residents are now invited to have their say.

The new station will have three platforms to serve both the Armadale Line and Australind passengers, as well as a seven-stop bus interchange.

The station will have about 400 parking bays, including ACROD bays and secure shelters for around 100 bicycles, bright lighting and CCTV.

Public art has been included to reflect the area's local identity, native flora and fauna, and Aboriginal culture.

Once complete, Byford and surrounding residents will have seamless connection to Perth in a 42-minute journey with a two-zone fare cap.

"This new station will give local businesses a boost and spark opportunities for growth in the area for years to come," Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said.

"Included in the design is well-designed lighting and CCTV, which will support community safety in and around the station area.

"The proposed design will give the community modern new facilities and connect Perth's south-east to the CBD for a quick, reliable and cost-effective journey."

The community can view the proposed designs and comment on the Development Application until September 7, 2023.
