City of Rockingham to host annual Christmas Festival

Locals are invited to ring in the festive season at the City of Rockingham's annual Christmas Festival.

The festival will be held at the Rockingham Foreshore on Saturday, December 4 from 5pm to 8.30pm.

The event will include stage entertainment at The Lookout, with visitors able to enjoy performances from local schools including Secret Harbour Primary School and South Coast Baptist College along with Kim Stolen Music throughout the evening.

There will also be children’s craft activities, market stalls, food vendors and roaming Christmas characters. 

The popular Christmas Street Parade will start at 5.30pm on the Village Green, with the parade to make its way down Flinders Lane and Rockingham Beach Road before finishing at Churchill Park.

The parade will include a wide array of community groups such as dance, emergency services, and sporting clubs. 

At 8pm the festival will culminate with the switching on of the Christmas lights.

The lights will be displayed throughout Churchill Park, The Lookout and the Beach Plaza areas. 

City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin encouraged community members to come and celebrate Christmas at the foreshore.  

“The annual Christmas Festival has grown to become one of the City’s most popular Summer Series events. It represents a great opportunity for families to celebrate the festive spirit in a relaxed, family-friendly environment,” Mayor Hamblin said. 

“More than 30 groups will be participating in this year’s Christmas Parade. During the parade visitors are encouraged to line the streets and cheer on the participants as they pass by.  

“Families will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with Santa and his helpers at the festival, before the foreshore precinct is lit up with the switching on of the Christmas lights.” 

Limited additional parking will be available at the Village Green and extra 555 buses will operate between Rockingham Train Station and the foreshore for the event.
