The City of Mandurah is calling on community feedback to help with the design of a shared path along the coast of Falcon between Halls Head and Wannanup.
A joint project between the City and the Department of Transport, the new 4km shared path will increase safety for both cyclists and pedestrians, and improve path amenity in the area to encourage more activity for community health.
The new, high quality path would link existing sections of coastal path in Wannanup and Halls Head.
This path route has been identified in the City’s Cycle Plan as a priority project, and is a critical link in the Island Shared Use Trail project (part of the Peel Harvey Estuary Trails project).
Safety for cyclists and pedestrians will be significantly increased by removing more than 100 ‘conflict points’ at intersections and residential driveways that are currently being experienced by path users on the existing concrete footpath.
The proposed path will be constructed within existing road reserves, and will follow existing path alignments through nature reserves to minimise the impact on the environment.
The community is invited to provide their feedback through an online survey by Friday, March 4, 2022.
This will help the City to finalise the path’s detailed design, which will be completed in the coming months.
