The City of Rockingham will provide $175,000 in funding for the Rockingham Beach Cup.
Hosted by the Rotary Club of Palm Beach WA, the two day event includes a community festival and culminates with a series of horse races along the Rockingham Foreshore.
This year’s event will be held on the weekend of Saturday, November 12 and 13.
Last year, more than 19,700 people attended the Cup, and nearly 9000 were visitors from outside of Rockingham.
It also injected $1.6 million into the local economy, with $879,000 of that coming from visitor expenditure.
City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin said the Rockingham Beach Cup aligned with the City’s Strategic Community Plan aspiration of actively pursuing tourism and economic development.
“The RBC’s status as an iconic event combined with its significant economic and tourism benefits supports the aims of our Economic Development Strategy 2020 – 2025 and the Tourist Destination Strategy 2019 – 2024,” Mayor Hamblin said.
“The City is focused on promoting Rockingham as a premier tourist destination and the RBC has demonstrated over a sustained period that it appeals strongly to both locals and visitors alike.
“The Rotary Club of Palm Beach WA contributes extensive volunteer efforts into delivering this event, and we hope visitors from near and far take the time to come and Rediscover Rockingham this November when the RBC returns to the fabulous Rockingham Foreshore.”
