Cleo Smith found alive and well inside Carnarvon home

A little girl who has been missing for 19 days has been found alive and well inside a Carnarvon home.

Around 1am on Wednesday, police rescued four-year-old Cleo Smith, smashing down the door of a locked house.

“They found little Cleo in one of the rooms," WA Police Deputy Commissioner Col Blanch said.

“One of the officers picked her up into his arms and said ‘what’s your name?’

“She said ‘my name is Cleo’.”

A 36-year-old man from Carnarvon is in custody and is being questioned by detectives.

“It’s the outcome we’ve achieved because of some incredible police work," Deputy Commissioner Blanch said.

“I want to thank Cleo’s parents, the Western Australian community and the many volunteers.

“And of course, I want to thank my colleagues in the Western Australia Police Force.

"We’ll have more to say on the rescue of Cleo as the day unfolds.

"For now - Welcome home Cleo."

Cleo Smith vanished from her family tent at the Blowholes campsite in the early hours of October 16.
