Desperate plea from family of critically ill toddler

The family of a southern suburbs toddler have issued a desperate plea to help save their little girl.

Aurelia Patel suffers from severe pulmonary hypertension, a condition which affects her heart and lungs.

The two-year-old was being treated at Perth Children's Hospital but despite being on multiple medications none have been successful.

She now requires a heart and lung transplant and has been placed on end-of-life palliative care.

Her family have been told a transplant is not possible in Australia for children under the age of four or under 15 kilograms due to low survival rates.

They are now looking at overseas options which could cost in the millions of dollars.

“When we started looking into overseas options it became very apparent we would somehow need to raise millions of dollars,” Aurelia's Aunty Therese Butcher told 7News.

“Money should never be a barrier to receiving life-saving care.”

Ms Butcher has since launched a GoFundMe page which has raised nearly $80,000.

Aurelia's father Peter Crofts said he won't give up on his daughter.

"I will fight for her with everything I have. If there is even one more door we can knock on, I will find it. I just need help to do it," he said on the GoFundMe page.
