Mandurah Detectives have charged a man following an incident at a Mandurah shopping centre car park on Tuesday 24 August 2021.
It is alleged that at approximately 1:30pm a 92-year-old man had exited his vehicle when he was approached by a 36-year-old man. Without warning the younger man struck the victim to the head, knocking him to the ground.
It is further alleged that when a bystander intervened, the man produced a box cutter knife and threatened the bystander.
He left the area but was arrested by police at a nearby house a short time later.
A 36-year-old man from Mandurah has been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm.
- Being armed in a way that may cause fear.
He appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court today and was remanded in custody to reappear on Friday, 27 August 2021.
