Man faces court over alleged bashing at Falcon pub

A 36-year-old man has appeared in court after allegedly bashing another man at a Falcon pub.

The West Australian reports, Grant Christopher Matsias allegedly approached the 47-year-old victim, Anthony Bray, and punched him in the face without warning at Cobblers Tavern around 10.40pm on Saturday.

The alleged blow caused Mr Bray to fall backwards and hit his head on the ground, knocking him unconscious.

It's alleged while he was still on the ground, Mr Matsias then kicked him in the head.

The accused was arrested at his Falcon home a short time after the alleged attack and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

The victim, My Bray, was rushed to Peel Health Campus before being transferred to Royal Perth with bleeding on the brain.

He was in a critical condition on Sunday.

Mr Matsias appeared in the Northbridge Magistrates Court on Sunday.

The West reports, the 36-year-old admitted the alleged attack was a "huge mistake" and he had been "drinking a little bit too much". 

He told the court there was an “altercation beforehand and it was taken out of context". 

Mr Matsias was granted bail with strict conditions including being banned from leaving WA, drinking alcohol, entering a licensed premises or contacting Mr Bray.

He will next appear in Mandurah Magistrates Court on February 3.
