Mandurah woman accused of lighting fires at two cemeteries

A Mandurah woman has been charged after allegedly lighting three fires at two cemeteries, including one that caused $1 million damage to a chapel.

The 28-year-old is accused of breaking into the Norfolk Chapel at Karrakatta Cemetery around 11.30pm on Tuesday, October 1 before setting fire to items in the chapel. 

The building suffered extensive damage at a cost of $1 million.

The woman is also accused of setting a shed alight at a cemetery in Parklands on September 27.

She then allegedly returned to the same cemetery on September 30 and set fire to another shed.

The Mandurah woman has been charged with three counts of criminal damage by fire and one count of burglary and commit.

She is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, October 2.
