A grandfather is recovering in hospital after being stabbed outside of his Parmelia home.
Police were called to Skottowe Parkway around 5.15pm on Wednesday following reports of a large group of people fighting.
It's understood the brawl involved feuding family members.
A 59-year-old man was stabbed after trying to intervene.
A neighbour, who is a nurse, rushed to his aid.
"He had been stabbed three times, once in the neck, the head and the leg, quite deep, quite severe and he was going into hemorrhagic shock," the nurse told 9NEWS.
"He was dying, he was bleeding out."
The victim's wife, Debra Ryder, has called for calm among the families after her grandchildren witnessed the attack.
"They're traumatised, we had to let them go to a safe house," she told 9NEWS.
"We've got to be a family, a strong family, but at the moment all the families are apart."
Inquiries are ongoing with Rockingham Detectives.
