Peel region trails to receive $8 million in State Government funding

Trails in the Peel region are set for an upgrade as part of a $165 million State Government budget commitment.

The Outdoor Adventure Tourism package will support new and upgraded boating facilities, campgrounds, trails and tourist attractions across WA.

This includes $8 million to improve the network of trails across the Peel region.

The next stage of the Peel Regional Trails Strategy will expand the types of trails (walk, ride, paddle and drive) and visitor opportunities.

This will include upgrades at Wagyl’s Noorook Thrombolites to create a local unique and meaningful visitor experience, while managing increased visitation to preserve the ecological and cultural integrity of the site. 

“The Peel Regional Trails project represents a remarkable stride in making outdoor activities inclusive and accessible to everyone," Murray-Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke said.

"By directing resources toward enhancing Wagyl’s Noorook Thrombolites, the project aims to cultivate a distinctive and enriching visitor experience at the local level.

"Importantly, this endeavour is undertaken with a steadfast commitment to preserving the ecological and cultural essence of the site."
