Person accused of running over man at Warnbro service station was 'just trying to move car'

A Port Kennedy man who allegedly ran over another man, pinning him underneath his car, has appeared in court over the incident.

Ivar Jarryd Huw Smith, 33, went to a service station on Warnbro Sound Avenue in Warnbro around 8.20pm on Wednesday before allegedly getting into an argument with the victim who had hopped into the passenger side of Smith's Mitsubishi Lancer.

Police say the men were known to each other.

It's alleged the victim got out of the car and began to walk away before Smith mounted a kerb and ran over the man.

He became trapped underneath with several witnesses helping to pull him out.

The victim suffered third-degree burns to his back and other potentially serious injuries.

The West Australian reports, Smith denied hitting the man on purpose and said he was “just trying to move" his car.

The court heard the accused has a history of drug use and breaching police orders.

Smith was remanded in custody and will reappear in court on August 15.
