A bushfire that threatened lives and home in Port Kennedy has been deemed suspicious.
The blaze started in bushland near Port Kennedy Drive and Warnbro Sound Avenue around 1.30pm on Tuesday.
Nearby residents were urged to evacuate their homes with the fire reaching an emergency warning level.
Luckily, the fire was extinguished before it could impact major roads and public transport in the area.
The blaze burnt through over 80 hectares of land.
Firefighters spent the night mopping up and monitoring the area.
Strike Force Vulcan officers wish to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious activity, persons, or vehicles in the vicinity of the fire.

Rewards of up to $25,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
