Second Mandurah Estuary Bridge one step closer

Expressions of Interest have been called for the design and construction of the Mandurah Estuary Bridge Duplication.

The $110 million project will see a second bridge built alongside the existing one, providing two extra traffic lanes for motorists to travel between Mandurah and Dawesville in a bid to reduce congestion and improve road safety.

Access for riders and walkers will also be improved with construction of a new shared path along with a universally accessible fishing platform.

Geotechnical site investigations, both on water and land, are underway with Main Roads also working to complete environmental and heritage assessments, project scoping and stakeholder consultation.

More than 33,000 vehicles use the Mandurah Estuary Bridge every day.

“The Mandurah Estuary Bridge duplication is an important project for the people of Peel, easing significant congestion and creating hundreds of local jobs," Premier Mark McGowan said.

“The project will enhance connections between Peel and the metropolitan area, improving safety and convenience for thousands of Western Australians."

Construction is expected to begin late next year.
