A shark advice has been issued for Preston Beach in the Shire of Waroona due to a whale carcass in the area.
The carcass was reported by Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions at 9:44am on Wednesday.
"It is possible the decomposing carcass will act as an attractant that could lead to sharks coming close into shore along this stretch of coast," the warning read.
"While it’s common for sharks to be present off the Western Australian coast throughout the year, people should exercise additional caution."
