Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale to live stream council meetings

Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale council meetings will be live streamed from Monday, October 21 in a bid to enhance transparency and public engagement within the community.

Residents will be able to watch council meetings live from the their own homes, ensuring that everyone can stay informed in local governance, 
regardless of their location or schedule. 

“The launch of live streaming for our council meetings is a major milestone for our Shire. It reflects our commitment to transparency and ensures that all residents can see their local government at work. We believe that by making council meetings more accessible, we can foster greater trust and engagement within our community," Shire President Rob Coales said.

The introduction of live streaming will allow residents to view meetings in real-time or access recordings at their convenience, providing a valuable resource for those who are unable to attend in person.

“We understand that not everyone can make it to council meetings due to various commitments or mobility issues,” President Coales said.

“By live streaming our meetings, we are ensuring that every resident has the opportunity to stay informed and involved in the decisions that shape our community.” 

In addition to live streaming, the Shire will maintain an online archive of all recorded meetings, allowing residents to revisit past discussions and decisions at any time.

“We are excited to see how this initiative will enhance civic participation and understanding of local government processes,” President Coales said.

“Our goal is to create a more informed and engaged community, and live streaming is a crucial tool in achieving that.”
