Tagged bull shark prompts warning for Warnbro Sound

A tagged bull shark hanging around in waters off Rockingham and Warnbro has prompted a shark warning.

The shark was detected 19 times by the Warnbro Sound receiver since late Friday and at one point a member of the public spotted a three-metre bull shark just 10 metres off Warnbro Beach.

While all beaches remain open, locals are being urged to be extra vigilant.

"It is possible that the frequency and duration of the recent reported tagged shark detections may increase the likelihood of encountering a shark in this area," the Shark Smart warning said.

"Although sharks may be present along the Western Australian coast throughout the year, people should exercise additional caution."
