'The most successful Crab Fest ever' - Record crowds flock to Mandurah for iconic event

Record crowds descended on Mandurah over the weekend for the 2023 Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest.

A massive 120,000 people from near and far attended the iconic event on Mandurah's waterfront spaces after a three-year break due to the COVID pandemic.

Highlights included headline acts Vanessa Amorosi, Gretta Ray and Electric Fields – plus a raft of talented local acts.

Celebrity chefs Paul West and Fast Ed Halmagyi teamed up with Channel 7 celebrities to cook up a storm on the Spudshed Cooking Stage.

There was also plenty to do for the kids with a dedicated children's area, plus a smorgasbord of food and drink options with many dishes featuring the blue swimmer crab.

The Mandurah Mazda Action Sports Games also proved a hit over on the Western Foreshore.

Mayor Rhys Williams said the feedback has been overwhelming.

"It was a massive weekend, Crab Fest 2023 was definitely the most successful Crab Fest ever," Mayor Williams said.

"Local business owners have talked about having a really successful weekend."

Mr Williams said the planning for Crab Fest 2024 will soon get underway.

"I think we'll give the team a couple of days to catch their breath and then I'm sure the planning will commence," he said.

"It's become such an important part of the WA event landscape and we're looking forward to building on it for next year."
