Grieving friends and family of a teenager killed in a motorbike crash in Bouvard at the weekend have paid tribute to the 17-year-old.
Rex Mason was riding an off-road motorbike when he collided with another motorbike being ridden by a 15-year-old boy on White Hill Road on Saturday afternoon.
He suffered critical injuries and died at the scene, while the other rider escaped with minor injuries.
A GoFundMe page has since been created to help Rex's family financially.
"I’m writing this on behalf of our beautiful family members, Luke & Autumn, who are going through something no one should ever have to face," GoFundMe organiser Sine Ovens said.
"Their youngest boy Rex, passed away suddenly at just 17 years old, Saturday the 5th April 2025. He was full of life—tall as anything (seriously, the tallest person most of us had ever met), with a cheeky grin, a passion for motorbikes, and a heart that made everyone around him feel welcome.
"Rex was the kind of kid who could light up a room just by walking into it. He was only just beginning his life, taken away from us all far too early.
"As a family, they were very close, worked side by side in the family small local fish and chip shop."
Ms Ovens said any money raised will go directly to Rex's family.
"Right now, the family is completely overwhelmed with grief. They’re trying to navigate funeral arrangements while mourning their beautiful boy.
"Understandably, they will not be able to work very much if at all and the emotional and financial strain is taking a real toll.
"That’s why I’ve set up this fundraiser—to give all friends, family, and the wider community a way to show their support for Rex.
"Every donation, no matter how small, will go toward funeral costs and help take some pressure off the family living during this incredibly difficult time."
On Sunday, several of Rex's friends gathered at the crash site to pay tribute to the 17-year-old.
