Unvaccinated residential aged care workers in WA to be fined under new rules

Residential aged care workers who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 and go to work could face a fine of up to $20,000 under new rules to come into effect in September.

The West Australian reports, a new state of emergency order was signed by WA Chief Health Officer Andy Robertson on Monday which will see COVID-19 jabs mandatory for residential aged care workers from September 17.

The new rules state anyone who fails to comply with the directions could be fined up to $20,000 and the penalties rise to $100,000 for owners and operators of aged care facilities.

Facilities are required to maintain a vaccination record of all of their staff and will need to produce the record to authorities on request.
