WA Football Commission investigating claims of racial abuse during junior footy game in Mundijong

The Western Australian Football Commission is investigating claims a 15-year-old boy was racially abused during a junior AFL match in Mundijong.

The Kelmscott player claims he was dragged to the ground by Mundijong players, called a racist name and had his jersey pulled up around his neck like a noose during the match over the weekend.

"He called me a black 'c' and I felt someone behind me pull my jersey and then he said he was 'hanging me' while he was dragging me along the floor," the player told 7NEWS. 

It is understood the game had to be called off after the situation escalated.

The 15-year-old's mother told 7NEWS her son was left with a split lip, a bleeding nose and had a burn mark around his neck from his jumper.

A WA Football Commission spokesperson said an investigation is underway and a tribunal hearing will be scheduled if necessary.
