West Australians ditch masks as COVID restrictions ease

West Australians can now ditch their masks with most COVID restrictions easing overnight.

Masks must still be worn in high-risk settings including hospitals, aged care homes, airports, public transport and in taxis and rideshare vehicles.

Capacity limits for all businesses and venues have also been scrapped and proof of vaccination for hospitality venues is no longer required.

Proof of vaccination is now only needed in hospitals and residential aged care facilities.

Close contacts with no symptoms, including those who live in the same household, do not need to isolate provided they take a daily RAT, wear a mask outside the home and avoid high-risk settings.

The vaccine mandate for workplaces still remains.

The requirement for a G2G pass for arrivals into WA has also been removed.

"Today marks a day of achievement for all Western Australians," Premier Mark McGowan said.

"It is our first day of eased ‘baseline’ public health measures.

"No indoor mask mandates, no capacity limits, no G2G passes, no proof of vaccination for entry to venues and eased requirements for close contacts.

"It’s the result of being past our Omicron peak, and achieving the soft landing we had planned for WA."
