White Hills Beach and access road closed ahead of long weekend

Locals planning on four-wheel-driving at Bouvard's White Hills Beach will have to go elsewhere this long weekend after the City of Mandurah closed the access road due to dangerous conditions.

In January, the City noticed that a section of the beach had eroded back to sand dunes near the entrance from White Hill Road.

Part of the dune is still being washed out by waves meaning there is no room for cars to drive on the 4WD track between the waterline and the dunes at high and low tides.

White Hills Beach was originally closed at the end of January, as the track for vehicles was not usable and the beach itself was unsafe.

The condition of the beach has not improved since and the City has made the decision to close the access point at White Hill Road, west of Quail Road, to keep the community safe.

"The City will be looking to continue monitoring conditions at this site, and will let the community know when the beach is safe and stable enough for 4WD access to reopen," a City spokesperson said.

"There is currently a Variable Message Board at White Hill Road advising of the closure and danger on the beach to vehicles. There is also signage at Preston Beach, Tims Thicket and near the Mandurah Train Station."
