Community pays tribute to Peel football stalwart John Talbert

The community has paid tribute to Peel football stalwart John Talbert after he passed away earlier this week.

John helped establish the Peel Regional Football Council and spent some time as president.

He also helped deliver the football stadium that now stands at Peelwood Parade.

"His legacy of dedication, leadership, and passion for the game has left an indelible mark on the sport and those around him," an online obituary read.

"(His) impact on the Peel football community was profound. He was not just a football enthusiast; he was a cornerstone of the community."

John was also a life member at Football West.

Football West CEO Jamie Harnwell passed on his condolences to John's family and friends.

“He was a great friend of Football West and a real asset for football, both in Peel and the wider area, and a particular advocate for young players," he said.

“He also had a great sense of humour and it was always fun to be in his company.”
