Federal opposition leader Angus Taylor visited Mandurah this week.

Mr Taylor, along with Canning MP Andrew Hastie, sat down with over 20 small business owners at Italian restaurant Piccolino on Thursday to discuss the implications of proposed changes to capital gains tax and negative gearing in the federal budget.

Mr Taylor said it was those local businesses who will be hit hardest.

"These people are the backbones of our communities. They are the heartbeat of the nation. They provide the employment. They provide incredible goods and services to people all over Australia," he told reporters after the small business forum.

"They buy products that others make and they are essential to the fabric, to the enterprise, to the aspiration and to the prosperity of this country. And Labor is coming after them.

"They (Labor) don't understand small business. They don't understand the role it plays in our country and in our communities, and they don't understand aspiration and reward for hard work."

Mr Taylor discussed the opposition's budget reply during the small business forum.

"We've been laying out a plan, a vision for this country, which has at the heart of it, the opportunity to get ahead, to restore our standard of living and to make sure small business people who are working hard like Giovanni (owner of Piccolino) can get ahead," he said.

"That means less tax. Less tax. Both business taxes, which are being hit hard by this Government that's coming after small business people's hard earned money, but also lower income taxes. We want to see lower income tax every single year with a Tax Back Guarantee."

Mr Taylor's visit to Mandurah came after One Nation's Pauline Hanson hosted a sold-out event in Midland the day prior.

When asked about it's popularity the opposition leader said they too are speaking to "huge crowds" of people.

"We're always talking to lots of people. We had this room crowded out just a moment ago and we're going to keep doing this because Australians are angry at a failed Labor government."

Mr Taylor and Mr Hastie also stopped in at Fermentum & Co, a mediterranean style restaurant based in Falcon.
