A man who stole over $20,000 worth of vapes from a store in Rockingham has been sentenced.
The Busselton Dunsborough Times reports, Joe-Roy Johnston appeared in the Busselton Magistrate’s last week after pleading guilty to several drug and robbery charges relating to break-ins across Perth and the Peel region.
The court heard Johnston lowered himself with a rope through a skylight at Just Vapours Australia in Rockingham on July 17, 2021.
He then stole $20,487 worth of vapes which have not been recovered.
He also caused $1000 in weather damages to the store's roof after leaving the skylight open.
Johnston also broke into a tennis club in Bullcreek and stole alcohol and cash on a separate date.
He was later arrested in Geographe where police found him in possession of meth, cannabis and Xanax pills.
The court heard Johnston had struggled with drug addiction for a decade.
He has been in custody since August last year and was handed a backdated 18-month prison sentence, making him eligible for parole now.
The Busselton man was also fined $1500.
