A Mandurah man has nearly missed out on a Lotto win after leaving his Super66 ticket on his fridge for almost a year.
The man in his 30s had less than five weeks left to claim his $146,943 prize.
A routine trip to the chemist was the spark that finally prompted the player to check his ticket.
“I just kept thinking, I’ll check it next month, and then the next month would come, and I’d think the same thing again,” he said.
“I couldn’t believe it when I finally checked, not only did I win, but I claimed my prize just in time!”
The man has shared the good news with his family and will put the money towards his house.
Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said finding the owner of the missing ticket was fantastic news as the year comes to a close.
“This player is going to have an extra special Christmas this year. What wonderful news, made even sweeter by getting in just five weeks before this ticket was going to expire,” she said.
“Players have 12 months from the draw date to claim prizes. This is a great reminder to check your tickets regularly and register tickets to a Lotterywest membership so we can get in contact with you if you’ve got a winning ticket.
"Just imagine having a winning ticket stuck to your fridge for almost the entire year.”
