Mandurah private school teacher charged with alleged sexual abuse of male student

A Mandurah private school teacher has been charged with the alleged sexual abuse of a male student.

The 33-year-old woman is accused of engaging in "persistent sexual conduct" with the teenage student between 2024 and 2025.

The Silver Sands woman has been charged with two counts of sexually penetrating a child of or over 13 and under 16, possession of child exploitation material and persistent sexual conduct with a child under 16.

She is next due to appear before the Mandurah Magistrates Court on January 27.

On Tuesday, the Mandurah private school sent a letter to parents and carers advising them of the teacher's arrest and confirming the student no longer attends the school.

The letter also stated the accused teacher has been suspended pending the outcome of the police investigation.

In a statement, WA Police said protecting children and ensuring their safety is of their highest priority.

"The WA Police Force acknowledges that reports of offences against children are deeply distressing for the community," a WA Police spokesperson said.

"Specialist detectives and support services are work tirelessly to investigate these matters and provide care for victims.
