McDonald's approved for Dawesville

A McDonald's is coming to Dawesville despite the City of Mandurah urging state planners to reject the proposal.

The Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel (MODAP) unanimously approved a proposal to build the $3 million fast-food restaurant at their July 21 meeting.

The proposed McDonald's, at the intersection of Bailey Boulevard and Cocklebiddy Gate, would operate 24 hours a day, have 19 carparking bays and a drive-through capable of holding 12 vehicles.

The City of Mandurah recommended that state planners reject the proposal because it does not "positively contribute to activation and visual amenity" of the area and does not provide a "high quality, pedestrian- friendly, street-orientated development".

But MODAP resolved to approve the proposed McDonald's because it was appropriate for the site as per the zoning for the land.

It will be the fourth McDonald's outlet in the City of Mandurah.
