Parents sue Ramsay Health Care over daughter's botched birth at Peel Health Campus

A mother and father are suing Ramsay Health Care after their daughter allegedly suffered a brain injury during her birth at Peel Health Campus in 2019.

The West Australian reports, in a writ filed in the Supreme Court of WA, the couple claim hospital staff are responsible for the brain injury that left their daughter, Kalani Glanville, with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and an intellectual disability.

The mother, Krysten Glanville, was induced at the hospital on March 13, 2019 following an episode of reduced foetal movement.

The parents claim hospital staff failed to properly interpret foetal heartbeat monitoring equipment or respond to the baby's heartbeat decelerating and that no paediatrician was present at the delivery.

Krysten and Jamie Glanville are also seeking damages for the trauma they claim they both suffered during their daughter's birth.

“We can confirm that Kalani Granville, the daughter of Krysten and Jamie Granville, was born at Peel Health Campus on 13 March, 2019," a statement from Ramsay Health Care said.

"Since a case is now before the Supreme Court, we are unable to provide any comment.”
