Some Kwinana residents are voicing their concerns after Premier Roger Cook announced he would be moving from his electorate to Perth.
Mr Cook and his wife Carly will be relocating from their Wellard home into an apartment in West Perth so they can be closer to work, but it has left some constituents questioning how he will be able to represent them.
"He's the local member and that's where he should be," one resident told 7NEWS.
"He could be in the local community so he can see what's going on," another resident said.
"If they're going to be an MP for the area they should live in the area," a third resident said.
Mr Cook cited the time it takes to commute to Perth as his reason for moving.
“(Being Premier) involves regularly attending early and late meetings, and with that in mind Carly and I have decided the time is right to relocate, close to where we work,” Mr Cook told The Sunday Times.
“Our plan is to rent out our home in Wellard to a local family and move into an apartment we recently purchased in West Perth.”
Mr Cook's electorate office will remain in Kwinana.
“I remain absolutely dedicated to the people of Kwinana who elected me as their local member in 2008. I raised my family in Kwinana and it will always be home,” Mr Cook said.
Mr Cook won the seat of Kwinana in 2008.
