The City of Rockingham's annual Symphony on the Green has attracted its largest ever crowd.
The Village Green came alive on Saturday with enchanting music performed by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Jen Winley, and supported by soloists Solomon Pitt and Melissa Erpen.
Kicking off with the iconic fanfare from 20th Century Fox, the orchestra launched into an exciting and engaging set list including classics from Andrew Lloyd Webber, ABBA and Queen, and fan favourites from the movies, including Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, Grease, and more.
“Symphony on the Green has established itself as one of the favourite events on our Summer Series calendar of free, family-friendly entertainment,” City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin said.
“Providing opportunities for community engagement and participation is an essential part of our strategic community plan, and we are delighted to provide such a high quality event to the many thousands of people who came out to enjoy the show.”
Unfortunately, the Performance in the Park - The Little Mermaid was cancelled.
"Due to the possibility of extreme heat on Sunday 18 February, and technical licensing concerns, the City has taken the unfortunate decision to cancel Performance in the Park – The Little Mermaid," said a post on the City of Rockingham's Facebook page.
