A Safety Bay man has been charged after allegedly stealing a car in Mandurah before leading police on a chase that ended in the South West.
The 31-year-old allegedly stole a red Toyota Landcruiser from an address in Mandurah around 3.15pm on Friday, March 13.
He then allegedly drove recklessly along the Bussell Highway towards the Metricup area.
At one point the man allegedly tailgated another vehicle on the Bussell Highway before hitting it, causing it to leave the road and crash into a tree.
The occupants of that vehicle were not injured.
The man allegedly continued to drive along the highway towards Margaret River before being spotted by police.
He allegedly failed to stop for officers and was followed into Margaret River before the vehicle eventually came to a stop at the end of Grace Road in Boranup.
The driver was arrested and has been charged with a string of offences including stealing a motor vehicle, endangering the life, health or safety of a person, dangerous driving, failing to stop and reckless driving to escape pursuit.
He will appear in court at a later date.
