The Secret Harbour by-election has attracted a record 16 candidates.
It makes it the largest field ever for a Western Australian by-election and has more than doubled the seven candidates contesting the seat at the 2025 State election.
The random draw to determine the order of candidates on the ballot paper was conducted on Tuesday with Liberal Ryan Robertson to appear first.

“As with State elections, it’s compulsory for all eligible electors to vote in the Secret Harbour By-election. There are a range of simple voting options to help people elect their new member of Parliament,” WA Electoral Commissioner Dennis O’Reilly said.
“You can vote in-person on polling day on Saturday 29 August. If you can’t attend on polling day, or choose not to, you can cast an early vote in person from 17 August or apply for a postal vote.”
There will be an early voting location in the Port Kennedy area, Perth city, and for enrolled electors who are currently interstate, to vote in person prior to polling day.
