One of WA Police's new drones have helped aid in the arrest of a 24-year-old man at a property in Baldivis.
About 9.05am on Tuesday, October 27, police received a report of a man armed with a small axe at a residential premises.
A DFR X pilot deployed a drone which arrived at the scene within five minutes.
"The drone provided police with real-time information about the scene, including two males and a dog in the yard, before the first attending police vehicle arrived a short time later," A WA Police spokesperson said.
"Live vision was simultaneously streamed to the State Operations Command Centre (SOCC) and the Family Violence Operations Supervisor, providing situational awareness to support frontline officers responding to the incident.
"The drone remained overhead as officers arrived at the property and took a person into custody."
The Exmouth man has been charged with making a threat to unlawfully do an act.
He is due to appear in court at a later date.
The recently introduced Drone as a First Responder Program is an Australian-first, allowing police to get eyes on an incident within minutes, helping officers respond faster and make more informed decisions.
