A new Mini Woolworths has opened up at South Metropolitan TAFE's Mandurah campus, giving students with a disability hands-on experience in a real-world retail setting.
The initiative provides a fully simulated supermarket environment on campus, where students can develop practical retail and customer service skills as part of their vocational education.
Mandurah is the second campus to host a Mini Woolies, following the successful launch of South Metro TAFE’s Bentley campus in late 2024.
Member for Mandurah Rhys Williams, who represented Skills and TAFE Minister Amber Jade Sanderson at the official launch, praised the initiative as a strong example of inclusive education in action.
"The new Mini Woolies at South Metro TAFE is more than just a training space — it’s a stepping stone to future education, employment and independence. It’s fantastic to see local students gaining real-world skills in such a supportive and inclusive environment," Mr Williams said.
"Mandurah is proudly leading the way as the most accessible and inclusive city in Western Australia, and the new Mini Woolies is another step in creating real opportunities for everyone in our community — especially young people with disability."
The Mini Woolies initiative is part of a growing partnership between South Metropolitan TAFE and Woolworths, focused on creating accessible and inclusive learning environments that prepare students for meaningful pathways beyond the classroom.
